Andy Braitman is an
artist of national stature; His work has been exhibited in Santa Fe,
Chicago, Atlanta, Millburn, N.J., Washington, D.C., Charlotte, and
internationally in both Holland and Brazil. In 1987,Andy was chosen
by Nancy Reagan as one of America's Leading Artists, and
along with other notable artists Frank Stella, Andrew Wyeth, Charles
Schultz) was honored to contribute a decorated Easter Egg to the White
House. This egg along with the others is now on display in the
Smithsonian Institute.
Andy
was born in Casper, Wyoming and grew up in Maryland where he attended the
University of Maryland. It was there that he discovered a true
passion for art and painting and drawing in particular. He was
awarded the Warton Award Grant for the Outstanding Senior Artist”in both
1972 and 1974. Andy was a Visiting Artist for Prince Georges County
Maryland for two years and was a Visiting Artist in North Carolina for
four years through the 1980s. Andy owns and runs a working/teaching
studio in 1995 in Charlotte, NC. He and his staff make art, teach
classes, conduct workshops both domestically and abroad ”Tuscany in May
of 2008. All the while, Andy has been painting, exhibiting, and
selling his artwork. He is quoted as saying that I am fortunate to
have not had a real job since 1976.
